About Me

Walking Selfie beach.heic

Therapy was a personal journey that led to a professional one. Having had a couple of therapists who guided me through difficult periods in my life, I was inspired to explore my path as a helping professional when my therapist asked, “Have you ever thought about being a therapist? I think you’d be great; you have a great way of framing things.” This conversation led me to a journey of personal and professional enlightenment and transformation.

Connecting with people, identifying patterns, validating emotions, collaborating on goals, and providing psychoeducation are pillars of my practice with clients. My lived experiences contribute to my ability to connect with clients and, therefore, have enabled me to show compassion and understanding with my clients in sessions.

Life is a practice,

let's do the work together.

Approach

In my work, I draw from holistic beliefs that recognize the unique experiences and perspectives of each client. I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive. Utilizing an integrated approach, I help clients build resiliency, manage stressors, address lifestyle choices, and foster a sense of empowerment.

I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic alliance by fostering trust and openness while creating a safe environment for exploration and growth. I draw from evidence-based strategies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. Together, we will collaborate on achieving your treatment goals.

The Ginkgo Leaf

The graphic in the logo for The Empowered Mind with Venita is inspired by the ginkgo tree's distinctive fan-shaped leaves. Instantly recognizable, ginkgo leaves carry deep symbolism. As one of the oldest living tree species, often called a "living fossil," the ginkgo has endured for over 200 million years, surviving everything from the dinosaurs to modern urban environments. Its remarkable resilience and ability to thrive in diverse conditions reflect fortitude, adaptability, and longevity.

I chose the ginkgo symbol because it represents resilience, strength, and renewal—values that resonate deeply in my work with clients. The ginkgo's associations with peace, hope, and transformation further enhance its significance, making it a powerful emblem of balance, harmony, and enduring growth.
